Ritual: Earth, Water, Air, Fire, Void
Humans create rituals to bring a sense of order and control to a complex world, and rituals often persist long after people have forgotten why they were created. In the concert hall, rituals tell us when and where to sit, stand, clap, or be silent. On May 1st 2016, we invited our audience to join us in challenging old rituals and creating new ones during an evening of music that explored the natural world through a ritualistic lens. The concert featured newly commissioned works by Athena Corcoran-Tadd, Daniel Wilson, Sarah Perske, and Adrien Trybucki, and Kathak dance by Denver’s Sureela Ensemble.
